Canada and the EFTAIn the article European Trade Deal Delayed by Election Michelle Collins points out the problems inherent with signing a trade union between Canada and the EFTA . If the deal is asymmetrical and the EFTA would hold the most benefit because it is understandable that Canada would have misgivings on signing the billIf the deal were to take a strong foothold in the European market as the article suggests , thus it would most definitely be to Canada s benefit to enter into a free trade agreement . An initial EFTA treaty could subsequen tly expand into more lucrative markets in Eu! rope . This could fix a huge economic boom for Canada which would have positive(p) economic repercussions provided it does not negatively affect municipal jobs .
