When King Duncan says th is, it shows that he is very fond of Macbeth. Macbeth is also very fond of King Duncan. When Macbeth says, Besides, this Duncan Hath borne his faculties so meek, hath been so clear in his great office, that his virtues ply plead like angels. (1.7.16-19). Macbeth doesnt hate King Duncan though; he actually likes him a lot. Macbeth knows that King Duncan likes him and he still decides to kill him.
This was Macbeths first betrayal and perhaps the approximately important one in the whole play.
